The site is designed to serve as a useful tool to anyone who is interested in RIte Care and is looking to learn a little more about it.
Many facts and figures on this site have been provided in a user-friendly way. This data comes from the wealth of publicly available RIte Care reports. The creators of this site, and its supporting coalition, hope that this data will help others recognize RIte Care's usefulness to both the people it directly serves, and everyone in Rhode Island.
This web site was created in November 2007 as a class project of three Brown University graduate students - Steven Glass, Patrick M. Tigue and Joe Braidwood. They all share an interest in the viability of RIte Care and feel that it is a truly worthwhile program, whose current benefits and eligibility levels are essential to the future of the State of Rhode Island.
In January 2008, the three graduate students passed the day to day management of the website and its corresponding educational campaign to a growing coalition of concerned organizations including: American Cancer Society – New England Division, Bayside Family Healthcare, Blackstone Valley Community Healthcare, Chad Brown Health Center, East Bay Community Action Program, Family Health Services, Family Voices at RIPIN, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, Northwest Health Center, Ocean State Action, Parent Support Network of Rhode Island, The Poverty Institute at Rhode Island College, The Providence Community Health Centers, Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians, Rhode Island Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Rhode Island Health Center Association, Rhode Island KIDS COUNT, Rhode Island Parent Information Network, The Rhode Island Medical Society, Thundermist Health Center, Tri-Town Health Center, Wood River Health Services and Woonsocket Even Start.
Steven Glass and Patrick M. Tigue completed their Master of Public Policy degrees in May 2008. Joe Braidwood earned his Master of Public Affairs degree in May 2008. Steven, Patrick and Joe still serve as advisors on the site.
